The Townsville area has some unique characteristics that influence water quality and the health of freshwater and marine ecosystems. Townsville is also Australia’s largest tropical city by population and is adjacent to the iconic Great Barrier Reef. What happens in Townsville can affect the water quality of the Great Barrier Reef.
